Q: What are the events at the Worlds Strongest Athlete Contest?

A: As of right now, the four events are:
600-pound tire flip: 3-6 flips for time
Farmers Walk: 170-205 pounds in each hand for a distance of 40-60 yards
Heavy Backward/Forward Sled Pull: 225-270 pounds for a distance of approx. 60 yards
Hand-Over-Hand Seated Rope Pull: 135-225 pounds for a distance of 50-75 feet

*The above descriptions are general descriptions. The specific events/weights will be announced for each division once the contest approaches each year. (Events and/or weights are subject to change from year to year.)

Q: Can anyone compete in this event or are there certain qualifications?

A: You must fit into one of the four categories in order to qualify to compete in this contest. The four categories are: High School Athletes, College Athletes, Professional Athletes (with the exception of professional Strongmen & Powerlifters) and Police/Fire/Military Personnel.

NOTE: If you graduated from high school and will be entering into your freshman year in college in September, you are still considered a HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE for this contest.

Although we don’t have any “formal” strength qualifications for this contest, we ask everyone to please be honest with themselves. This contest definitely isn’t for everyone. Remember that this is a “strongman” contest and the events are not easy! We highly recommend that athletes practice the events before signing up for the contest. If you can’t sign up for strongman training sessions at DeFranco’s Gym or Overtime Sports Facility before the event, we suggest trying to find a trainer/gym in your area that has the strongman implements so you can practice. If you’re able to complete the events, then go ahead and sign up! If you’re not physically prepared, we suggest training for the event and then signing up the following year. Don’t worry; this contest is going to be around for a long time!

Q: Can I attend the event even if I’m not competing?

A: Yes! This event is open to the public and we would love to have your support. There will be a small entrance fee at the door that will be donated to the National MS Society. Event t-shirts and apparel will also be available for spectators at the event. Cameras are also permitted if you would like to take pictures at the event.
